"Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer. Pamela is a gracious and helpful host. The location was just what we were hoping for. Close enough to Acadia National Park,groceries and shopping. Our time went much too fast."

"The view itself was priceless. The cottage was very clean. It did have a little step down going into the bedroom that I wasn’t aware of and almost fell. The shower is really tiny. The directions to the cottage had said something about seeing a sign to stay right, but turn left. There wasn’t any stay right sign that we saw. The cottage also said it was secluded but there is 2 neighbors. The trees block them but you can hear the kids playing, etc. On the other side we saw a man outside our window taking pictures of the sunset. The communication with the housekeeper was awesome. We definitely got plenty of relaxation in and did someFishing. We didn’t catch anything but enjoyed ourselfs."

"We have stayed at The bluebird several times in the last couple of years and we have no complaints. The bed is comfortable the water pressure is great everything is clean. But it looks like things are getting long in the tooth. The bathrooms, at least, need to be updated. We will stay there again for sure!"
Downeast Getaway Victorian Cottage - Year-round

"Rod and Lucile were absolutely wonderful hosts. They met us at their charming house, showed us around and gave us suggestions as to where to eat and places to visit. I've lived in Maine for nearly forty years: their place, and their hospitality, hearken to an earlier era, one that prizes warmth, friendliness, and an appreciation of the natural world. Their home is lovely, furnished with antiques and vintage pieces, very welcoming and with incredible views out to the water, just steps from their door. A fire in the granite fireplace was a treat on a chilly night. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals when we didn't feel like venturing out to the diner a few miles up the road, or restaurants in nearby Milbridge. Bed was extremely comfortable, and there are many places to cozy up and read indoors, and a trail to walk around outside. The house is ideally located for exploring downeast — we went up to Machias one day, went antiquing in nearby Cherryfield, and visited the beautiful sand beach at Roque Bluffs. This is an idyllic place for a Maine getaway — we plan to come back as soon as we can."

"We had a wonderful stay and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The entire place was thoughtfully done and easy from start to finish. You can tell a lot of thought went into creating a place the feels warm and welcoming rather then just a rental. We were a group of 8 adults and a toddler. The bedrooms were large and the way the house was laid out provided plenty of privacy. Note, to anyone looking to rent as a previous review sited, the house is remote (an hour plus to Bar Harbor) but that’s not a knock. Sitting at the fire pit overlooking the cove and gazing at the stars was so peaceful!"

"The location of this property is excellent with the best view on Pigeon Hill Bay! It's a close driving distance to numerous preserves with great hiking trails and Pigeon Hill Preserve is just a short walk up the road.The bay offers protected waters for kayaking and viewing an abundance of wildlife such as seals, bald eagles, herons and numerous other water birds. Watching the local lobster boats is also a treat. Karl, the host, keeps great communication and is happy to be contacted should there be any questions or concerns.The property is clean, appointed well and well maintaned, We've done vacation rentals for many years and this is our favorite!"
